Polka Dots, Lace & Peplum

This week I decided to flashback to an outfit I wore during MTV VMA Week this past September. I absolutely love the peplum look because of the instant chic-ness it adds to an outfit. I paired the polka dot, lace blouse with a bright red peplum skirt and black heels.

This was such an amazing week because I was one of the Pepsi NOW Photographers and I was able to cover VMA prep, the red carpet and the actual MTV Video Music Awards event. It was my first time out in LA and I met so many great people! I’ve said it a million times and I will say it a million more: THANK YOU MTV & PEPSI!!!

On Friday, I was able to attend a Fall Fashion presentation at Macy’s hosted by Robbie Laughlin from E! News. (In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, watch E! News and look out for the “Who Wore it Best” segment… that’s him!) He gave a lot of great tips on how to incorporate Fall 2012 fashion trends into anyone’s wardrobe and he also did a few rounds of Who Wore it Best with the audience! Two staple items he believes every woman should have in her closet are a pencil skirt and a poncho. They are very classic looks and can be styled an endless amount of ways.

Robbie suggested a major color trend this season— cobalt blue. I immediately looked down at my pants when he said that… 2 points for me haha! He also showed us a few ways to mix bright colors into a dark wardrobe. (Sound a little familiar? Check out my “Welcome” post to see the connection.) After the presentation, I was able to take a photo with Robbie and ask him a few questions. He was really nice and gave me some great advice. Oh, and he liked my cobalt blue pants. Hooray!
